Sometimes under the guise of ‘Joan Dantes,’ Alex is an author, playwright, dramaturg, lecturer, and theater educator who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her partner and fellow artist, Quinten “Q” Avila.

She is currently the president of the board for the New Mexico Shakespeare Festival, where she is also a reprasentative of the NMSF Education Outreach Program. She is co-founder of Ladies Disdain Productions, an all-women theater company that seeks to explore and elevate femme-forward and queer-positive works of drama.

She spends her weeks reading, adapting novels for the stage, and hiking the Southwest desert.

She also writes in cursive and has curly hair.
